Jubilation filled the air as the Nutmeg Ballet Conservatory hosted two Sugar Plum Fairy Tea Parties on Sunday 11/23/2014. The master of ceremonies Artistic Director Victoria Mazzarelli welcomed the young princes and princesses into the historic Nutmeg building that had been transformed a magical winter wonderland. Attendees enjoyed craft time, a crowning ceremony, pictures with the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier, and a special story-time from Dr. Drosselmeyer himself (portrayed by European stage actor Thomas Evertz!
The Parent Network of the Nutmeg and the Dance Shop of the Nutmeg created this Sugar Plum Fairy Tea Party as a fundraiser that has quickly become a Torrington tradition. This year was sponsored by Litchfield Woods, KidsPlay, the Parent Network and the Dance Shop while the delectable delights were provided by Sweetie’s Treats, S and S Sweet Treats and First Act Bakery with printing by Rainbow Press.
The tea party guests were thrilled to pose for pictures with Clara, the Snow Queen, the Clowns and the entire cast who were dressed in the beautiful costumes created by Susan Fazzino. The volunteers from the Parent Network helped every child with a smile during the activities.
The tea party is a wonderful precursor to the main event, the spectacular Nutmeg Nutcracker production which will be performed at the Warner Theatre in Torrington on December 6 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and December 7 at 2:00 p.m. and at the Bushnell’s Belding Theater in Hartford on December 13 & 14 at 12:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased by calling the Bushnell Theater box office at 860-987-5900 and the Warner Theatre box office at 860-489-7180.
