The Beckley Furnace is located in East Canaan, CT. According to the official WEBSITE it is Connecticut’s only designated Industrial Monument, and is also considered a Connecticut State Park. The furnace was created to build “pig iron”. The Furnace closed in 1919, the year that World War I ended. The location was identified for its historical significance and it was purchased by the state. Still, over time the site deteriorated until local citizenry took action in 1996, preserving the site for all to enjoy.
