“I WAS FAMOUS THROUGH MY ADDICTION AND I TRAVELED THE WORLD BUT I MISSED A LOT OF STUFF AND I WAS MISERABLE A LOT OF THE TIME…”-Ricky Byrd
Coming up in September 25th will be Ricky Byrd’s 28th sober anniversary. Byrd describes his former life as “the classic rock/roll guy behind the music.” Once he claimed his sobriety, Byrd noted that many fans approached him and said he was the reason they picked up a guitar. “I started to tie it together,’ says Byrd. “There’s gotta be somebody that heard about my wildness that took that as a ‘pass’.” Byrd sees an important altruistic opportunity in his elevated platform due to the induction into the hall of fame. “I use this renewed fame from the Rock and roll hall of fame, and I can do a lot of good in recovery”
It is an exceptional honor that Torrington is this inaugural concert for Ricky Byrd’s Clean Getaway Concerts. If successful, the plan is to expand the idea to “go wherever it is needed”. His message is clear “You can have a great time in sobriety. ”
We can have a great time at this concert as the ticket sales help those with sobriety as their goal.
As their facebook event page states, “A limited number of tickets are now available for a pre-show VIP, which includes meet and greet with Byrd and the rest of the All-Star line-up and a Clean Getaway goodie bag. VIP tickets are $75. General seating is $30.”
If you can’t attend you can purchase and donate a ticket that can be donated to the McCall Foundation.
All this means Torrington is the hub of a unique and exceptional musical experience on Saturday night. The performers are national recording artists who will rock the Warner Nancy Marine theater stage. You have the opportunity to take part, to make a difference.
